Number types represent the communication methods to reach a specific contact.
Number Type | Description |
Fax |
A device that scans pages and converts the images of those pages to a digital format, and transmits the image through a telephone line. A fax machine also receives such images and prints them on paper. |
Home |
A contact’s residential phone number. |
Mobile |
A device that uses a cellular network to receive both phone calls and SMS. If users choose to indicate a communication preference, it appears on the contact card. |
Pager - Alphanumeric |
A device that allows the reception of messages including both letters and numbers. |
Pager - Code |
A device shared by several contacts. The device can’t be defined as alphanumeric or numeric and must be added to each user’s contact card. |
Pager - Numeric |
A device that allows the reception of messages including only numeric characters (0-9 and *). |
Private Line |
A phone number to reach the contact in case of emergency only. |
Public address |
A communication meant to reach multiple people at once through a system of speakers, for example. This number type is only available for departments. |
Speed Dial |
A feature possessed by certain phones that allows assigning keypad shortcuts to specific phone numbers. |
Work |
A contact’s office phone number. |
