When you cannot access your mobile device or your email to sign in to the Petal platform, use a recovery code.
A recovery code is a unique code that allows you to regain access to your account if you lose access to your primary authentication method. It is important to save the recovery code in a secure location.
When you set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) by using an authentication app or text message authentication, the Petal platform generates a recovery code. Store the recovery code in a secure location that only you can access, for example, your cloud storage or a password manager.
Note: Use the same recovery code only once. Once used, the recovery code expires. An unused recovery code does not expire; therefore, you can use it later. Once you use the recovery code, the Petal platform generates a new recovery code.
- On the Welcome page, enter your email address and password and then select Continue.
- On the Verify your identity page, select Try another method.
- On the Select a method to verify your identity page, select Recovery code.
- Locate the recovery code that you stored and then paste it in the Recovery code* box.
- Select Continue. A new recovery code appears.
- Select Copy code and then save the new recovery code in a secure location.
- Select the I have safely recorded this code checkbox and then select Continue.
You can now access the Petal platform.
