Set up multi-factor authentication by using an authentication app

To sign in to Petal by using multi-factor authentication (MFA) with an authentication app, first set up your account in the app. An authentication app allows you to use a one-time code on your phone to verify your identity.

Prerequisites:

  • You have a mobile device available to complete the MFA setup, whether you use the Petal web app or the Petal mobile app.
  • You have installed an authentication app on your mobile device, for example, Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator.
Web app

  1. On the Welcome page, enter your email address and password and then select Continue.
  2. If prompted, select the links to review the terms and conditions and the privacy policy. Select the checkboxes to provide consent and then select Continue. 

  3. On the Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) page, select Authentication app. A QR code appears.

    Note: Petal saves your authentication choice for your future sign-ins.

  4. On your mobile device, perform these steps. The steps vary slightly depending on the authentication app that you use.
    1. Open the authentication app.
    2. Tap and then tap Add an account.
    3. Tap Work or school account, and then tap Scan a QR code.

    4. Use your mobile device to scan the QR code. A one-time code appears in the authentication app.

      Note: If you’re having trouble scanning the QR code, in the Petal platform, select Enter code manually. In the authentication app, tap Enter code manually and then tap Work or school account. In the Code box, enter the code from Petal. In the URL box, enter id.petal-health.com. Tap Finish.

  5. On the Set up your account page, select Continue. 
  6. Enter the one-time code from the authentication app in the One-time code* box. Select Continue.
  7. On the Almost there! page, a recovery code appears. You can use the recovery code if you sign in without your mobile device or authentication app. Follow these steps to store it:
    1. Select Copy code and then save the code in a secure location, for example, cloud storage or a password manager.
    2. Select the I have safely recorded this code checkbox.
    3. Select Continue.
  8. You have now completed MFA set-up. Select Access Petal.
Mobile app
  1. Enter your email address and password and then tap Continue.
  2. If prompted, select the links to review the terms and conditions and the privacy policy. Tap the checkboxes to provide consent and then tap Continue.

  3. On the Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA), tap Authentication app

    Note: Petal saves your authentication choice for your future sign-ins.

  4. On the Set up your account page, tap Copy code to copy the authentication code
  5. Open the authentication app on your mobile device and then perform these steps. The steps might vary slightly depending on the authentication app that you use.
    1. Tap , and then tap Add an account.
    2. Tap Work or school account.
    3. Tap Scan a QR code and then tap Enter code manually.
    4. Tap Work or school account.
    5. In the Code box, paste or manually enter the code from Petal. In the URL box, enter id.petal-health.com.
    6. Tap Finish. A one-time code appears in the authentication app.
  6. Return to the Petal app. On the Set up your account page, enter the one-time code from the authentication app in the One-time code* box. Tap Continue.
  7. On the Almost there! page, a recovery code appears. You can use the recovery code if you sign in without your mobile device or authentication app. Follow these steps to store it:
    1. Tap Copy code and save the code in a secure location, for example, a cloud storage or a password manager.
    2. Tap the I have safely recorded this code checkbox.
    3. Tap Continue.
  8. You have now completed MFA setup. Tap Access Petal.
