Set up multi-factor authentication by using an authentication app

To sign in to Petal using multi-factor authentication (MFA) with an authentication app, first set up your account in the app. An authentication app allows you to use a code on your phone to verify your identity.

Prerequisites:

• You need your mobile device to complete the setup whether you are using Petal Web or Mobile application.
• Install an authentication app, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator on your mobile device.

Web app

1. Log in using your email and password and then select Continue.
2. (If prompted) Select the links to read the terms and conditions and the privacy policy. Check the boxes to give your consent. Select Continue. 

3. In Set up to multi-factor authentication (MFA), select Authenticator app. A QR code appears.

   Note: Petal saves your authentication choice for your future logins. 

4. On your mobile device, perform these steps. The steps vary slightly depending on the authentication app that you use.
   1. Open the authentication app.
   2. Select + and then select Add an account.
   3. Select Work or school account and then select Scan a QR code.

   4. Use your mobile device to scan the QR code. A one-time code appears in the authentication app.

      Tip: If you are having trouble scanning the code, select Enter code manually in the Petal platform and then in the authentication app. Input the Petal code in the authentication app. The app provides you with a one-time code. 

5. In the Petal platform on your computer, select Continue. Set up your account page appears. 
6. Manually enter the one-time code from the authentication app in One-time code* box. Select Continue.
7. In Almost there! page, a recovery code appears. You can use it if you ever sign in without your mobile device or your authentication app. Follow these steps to store it: 
   1. Select Copy code and save it in a secure location of your choice.
   2. Check I have safely recorded this code box. 
   3. Select Sign up.
8. You have now completed your MFA authentication set-up, select Access Petal.

Mobile app

1. Log in using your email and password and then select Continue.
2. (If asked) Select the links to read the terms and conditions and the privacy policy. Check the boxes to give your consent. Select Continue.
3. In Set up multi-factor authentication page, select Authenticator app.
   
   Note: Petal saves your authentication choice for your future logins. 
4. In Set up your account page, select Copy code to copy the authentication code.
5. Open the authentication app on your mobile device and perform these steps. The steps might vary slightly depending on the authentication app that you use.
   1. Select + and then select Add an account.
   2. Select Work or school account.
   3. Select Scan a QR code and then select Enter code manually. 
   4. Paste or manually enter the Petal authentication code. A one-time code appears in the authentication app.
6. Go to the Petal app. In Set up your account page, enter the code from the authentication app in the One-time code* box. Select Continue.
7. In Almost there! page, a recovery code is provided. You can use it if you need to sign in without your mobile device or your authentication app. Follow these steps to store it:
   1. Select Copy code and save it in a secure location of your choice.
   2. Check I have safely recorded this code box.
   3. Select Sign up.
8. You have now completed your MFA authentication set-up, select Access Petal.
