Use @ mentions in a group conversation

Use mentions (@ symbol) in a group conversation to communicate with a particular person within the group conversation. For example, you can direct a question to only one person in a group conversation, but the answer might also be important for everyone in the conversation to know.

Web app

  1. In the side menu, select Secure Messaging MobileApp_SecureMessagingBeta_icon.png.
  2. In Conversations, go to your group conversation.
  3. In Write a message, use your keyboard to type @. The contacts in the group conversation appear.
  4. Select the contact. The selected contact's name appears in the message.
  5. Type text next to the contact's name.
  6. Select MobileApp_Send_icon.png. The message is sent to group and the specified contact is notified.

Mobile app

  1. From the bottom menu, tap Messaging MobileApp_Messaging_icon.png.
  2. In Conversations, go to your group conversation.
  3. In Write a message, use your keyboard to type @. The contacts in the group conversation appear.
  4. Tap the contact. The selected contact's name appears in the message.
  5. Type text next to the contact's name.
  6. Tap MobileApp_Send_icon.png. The message is sent to group and the specified contact is notified.
