Register for multi-factor authentication

To sign in to the Petal platform by using multi-factor authentication (MFA), first register for MFA.

MFA enhances account security by requiring multiple forms of verification before granting access to Petal.

Prerequisites:

• Have both a computer and a mobile device to complete the MFA registration process —you will go back and forth between the two devices.
• Install an authentication app, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator on your mobile device.

1. Go to www.petal-health.com.
2. Select Sign in. The Welcome page appears.
3. When you sign in to the Petal platform for the first time, enter your email address and password and then select Continue. The Sign up for MFA page appears.
4. Enter the email address where you want to receive the MFA email invitation and then select Send invite.
   
5. In your inbox (for example, Outlook), open the MFA invitation.
   
6. In the MFA invitation, select Continue registration. The Petal platform opens. In Secure your account, a QR code is displayed. 
   
   Note: If you are using a mobile device instead of a computer to perform these steps, select Trouble Scanning. In Secure your account, select Copy Code and then paste the code into your authentication app. The authentication app generates a one-time code that you must then paste in One-time code* in the Petal platform.
7. On your mobile device, perform these steps. The steps might vary slightly depending on the authentication app that you use.
   1. Open the authentication app.
   2. Select + and then select Add an account.
   3. Select Work or school account and then select Scan a QR code.
8. Use your mobile device to scan the Petal QR code. Your authentication application generates a one-time code.
9. In the Petal platform, paste the one-time code in One-time code*.
10. Select Continue. The Petal platform generates a recovery code.
    
    A recovery code is a unique code that allows you to regain access to your account if you lose access to your primary authentication method. It is important to save the recovery code in a secure location. See Log in to the Petal platform by using a recovery code.
     
11. Select Copy code.
12. Store the recovery code in a secure location, such as cloud storage or a password manager.
13. Select I have safely recorded this code.
14. Select Continue. Registration is complete.
15. Log in to Petal.
