Shift Picking enables planners to offer Open shifts from a current or future published scheduling period to eligible healthcare providers. Eligible healthcare providers can pick the Open shifts that they want to work on a first-come, first-served basis.
Healthcare providers are eligible for an Open shift if they have the required competencies to work that shift.
Shift Picking process
A planner creates and publishes a Shift Picking offer that contains various Open shifts. Healthcare providers whose competencies match the requirements for an Open shift receive an in-app and email notification. They can then pick Open shifts.
When healthcare providers pick Open shifts, the system assigns the Open shifts to them immediately. Planner approval is not required. Existing shift assignments, availability conflicts, absences, and other scheduling constraints do not prevent healthcare providers from picking Open shifts. The Open shift disappears from the Shift Picking offer once the maximum number of resources is reached.
Open shifts that are part of the Shift Picking process are no longer available through standard self-assignment. Healthcare providers must use the Shift Picking process to pick these Open shifts.
