Calendar sync settings for iPhone, iPad or Mac (CalDAV)

Objective

This article will help you to optimally synchronize your calendar with an iPhone, an iPad or a Mac.

 

In order to use CalDAV sync as a calendar sharing method, you must first stop sharing your current Petal calendar with your Apple calendar.

Displaying your Petal calendar on your Apple Calendar (mobile version)

iPhone and iPad configuration

1. Select the Petal app.

 

2. From your Petal calendar, tap the menu located in the screen’s top right corner.

3. Select Synchronize.

4. The instructions screen for setting up calendar sharing appears.

5. Select the Settings icon from your phone to continue configuring your calendar.

6. Select Calendar from the list of apps.

8. Select Add an account.

9. Select Other.

10. Select Add CalDav Account.

11. Enter the required information as described in the table below.

Server address

Type the following address:https://cal.petal-health.com/dav.php

User Name

Indicate the email address you use to connect to your Petal account.

Password

From your Petal app, under the Share your calendar pane, click Show password.

Once the password appears, click Copy. Then, go to the CalDAV calendar window and paste the password in the appropriate field.

Description

Enter a relevant name for your calendar.

Adding a Petal Calendar to an Apple Calendar (Web version)

Mac Configuration

To display your Petal Calendar in your Apple Calendar and see all your appointments in a single place, follow the procedure detailed below. The same procedure applies if you want to share your Petal Calendar with another Apple user.

 

Note that displaying your Petal Calendar on another platform only allows you to view the items. To modify them, you need to go to the Petal app.

 

1. From your Petal Calendar, click the Share icon.

2. If you work night shifts and want to declutter your calendar, check the option titled Cut-off at midnight work schedule events that, in fact, end the next morning.

3. For your absences to also show on your Apple Calendar, check the box next to Synchronize my absences.

Warning! Once you have selected the above settings and closed the pane, you wont be able to modify them anymore. Make sure your choices suit your needs before going to the next configuration step.

 

5. Select Apple Calendar.

6. From your Mac, go to the Calendar app.

 

7. From the Calendar menu, select Add Account.

8. Select Other CalDAV Account, and click Continue.

6. Fill out the required fields in the contextual window.

Select the Manual option to be able to type the server address.

User Name

Indicate the email address you use to connect to your Petal account.

Password

From your Petal app, under the Share your calendar pane, click Show password.

Once you are done, click Close  located in the top right corner of the Share your calendar pane.

 

Modifying the calendar sharing

There have been updates to Petal’s calendar sharing.

To synchronize your Petal calendar to your Apple calendar, first you must remove Petal’s calendar from the Apple calendar display and stop the Petal calendar sharing. Then, follow the new procedure to display your Petal calendar on your Apple Calendar.

 

Removing Petal’s calendar (ICS) from the Apple calendar 

In order to use CalDAV as calendar sharing method, you first have to stop your current calendar sharing between the Petal calendar and the Apple calendar.

To stop sharing your Petal calendar with an Apple calendar, whether it’s yours or someone else’s, use the following steps.

 

On an iPhone or iPad

  1. Select your Calendar application
  2. Touch Calendars > > Unsubscribe

On a Mac

  1. Go to your calendar, and then click the details icon located in the top left corner.

Your Petal calendar is now unsynchronized from your Apple calendar.

To synchronize it again using the new method, refer to Adding a Petal calendar to your Apple Calendar.

Stopping the Petal calendar sharing

To stop the Petal calendar sharing, on the right side pane, click on Show Password, then click on Reset password.

Warning! Reinitializing the password stops all CalDAV synchronizations. You must enter the new password to reactivate synchronization with external agendas.
