Register for multi-factor authentication (authentication app)

To sign in to the Petal platform by using an authentication app, you must first register for multi-factor authentication.

Prerequisite

Install an authentication app such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator on a separate device, such as a smart phone.

  1. When you sign in to the Petal platform for the first time, enter your email address and password and then select Continue.

  2. In Sign up for MFA, enter the email address where you want to receive the multi-factor authentication email invitation. Select Send invite.

  3. Go to your inbox to locate the multi-factor authentication email invitation.
  4. In the multi-factor authentication invitation email, select Continue registration.

  5. In Secure your account, use the authentication app on your mobile device to scan the QR code.

    Note: If you are using a mobile device instead of a computer to perform these steps, select Trouble Scanning. In Secure your account, select Copy Code and then paste the code into your authentication app. The authentication app generates a one-time code that you must then paste in One-time code*

  6. Select + and then select Add an account.
  7. Select Work or school account, and then select Scan a QR code. Your authentication application generates a one-time code.
  8. In the Login page, type the one-time code in One-time code, and then select Continue. The Petal platform generates a recovery code. 

    Store the recovery code in a secure location, such as cloud storage or a password manager. You might need this code if you are unable to access your mobile device or email to log in to the Petal platform.
